Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 18 April 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the DSR (Dutch Synthetic Reefing) website and online services, including any registration, user profile, tools, downloads, and related content (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
The Service is operated by the party responsible for this website and its content (“we”, “us”, “our”). Contact details published on the website (including the email address used for support or registration) apply for notices under these Terms.
2. Eligibility and accounts
2.1 You may need to create an account to use certain features. You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
2.2 We may disable or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, pose a security risk, or misuse the Service.
2.3 Account activation, password management, and account deletion are subject to the processes described on the website and in our privacy materials.
3. Use of the Service
3.1 You agree to use the Service only in compliance with applicable law and these Terms.
3.2 You must not: attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems; interfere with the Service; scrape or extract data in bulk without permission; upload malware; harass others; or use the Service to distribute spam or illegal content.
3.3 We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service (for example for maintenance, security, or product changes) with or without prior notice, except where law requires otherwise.
4. Informational content, calculators, and the DSR method
4.1 Text, blog posts, downloads, product descriptions, calculator outputs, and other materials on the Service are for general information about reef-keeping, the DSR method, and related products. They are not professional, veterinary, or engineering advice for your specific aquarium.
4.2 You remain solely responsible for the health and safety of your livestock, equipment, and water chemistry, and for complying with local regulations. Always verify critical values and decisions with appropriate testing and, where needed, professional advice.
4.3 Calculators and tools are provided “as is” without any guarantee of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose.
5. User content and data you enter
5.1 Features such as aquarium and measurement records may allow you to store data on the Service. You retain ownership of your data to the extent applicable; you grant us a licence to host, process, back up, and display that data as needed to run the features you use.
5.2 You must not enter unlawful content or content that infringes others’ rights. We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
6. Products, distributors, and third parties
6.1 Product listings, images, and specifications are for information. Availability, price, and purchase terms for physical goods (if any) are governed by the relevant seller and their terms, not by these Terms alone.
6.2 Distributor and sponsor listings may link to or describe third parties. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, products, or practices.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including design, text, graphics, logos, and software, is protected by intellectual property rights. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our materials except as allowed by law or with our written permission. Limited personal viewing and use of the Service as intended is allowed.
8. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN EXCLUSIONS; IN THOSE JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE (AND OUR SUPPLIERS AND AFFILIATES) ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY EUROS (€50), EXCEPT WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER MANDATORY CONSUMER OR OTHER LAW (INCLUDING DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE WHERE SUCH RESTRICTION IS NOT ALLOWED).
10. Indemnity
You will defend and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your data or content, or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
11. Privacy
Our processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy (where available on the website). By using the Service, you acknowledge that processing as described there may occur.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on the website and, where appropriate, change the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance, except where a stricter form of notice is required by law.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of the Netherlands have non-exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any mandatory rights you may have as a consumer in your country of residence.
14. Contact
For questions about these Terms, use the contact options provided on the website (for example the support or registration email address).
Important: This document is a practical template for a reef-keeping / e-commerce information site. It is not personal legal advice. You should have it reviewed by a qualified lawyer, especially for consumer sales, B2B terms, and full alignment with EU and Dutch law (including any mandatory information for your specific business structure).
