Keep strontium in line with calcium and alkalinity work.

In a reef aquarium

Strontium sits alongside calcium chemically and is incorporated into the skeleton by many corals. It supports calcification together with Ca and KH. In seawater it is a trace on a major-ion scale; big jumps are rarely needed and it tracks best with steady Ca/KH maintenance.

Quick tips

  • Use the same unit for reading and target (e.g. both ppm, both dKH for KH, or both ppt for salinity).
  • Volume = effective system water in liters (rough estimate is OK, but the cleaner the better).
  • This only plans increases. If you are already too high, the tool will not offer a “raise” dose: use water changes, media, or advice from your coach — not more of the same product upward.
